In 1965, IYFR was started in New Zealand by Rotarian Logan Colmore Williams of the Rotary Club of New Lynn

Logan met IYFR International Commodore Bob Stewart of Chicago while attending the Rotary International Convention in the USA. On his return Logan gathered a few keen boaties and kept in touch with them over the years. He worked with ‘Epi Glass’ the new found material for boat builders and hobby builders of boats.

Logan kept the ‘flame burning’ until 1985, when District Governor All Haskell took an active interest and formalised the activities of the fellowship.

Sadly, no history of our fleet is available for these first 20 years, we have a maintained a full record of events since then.
